What is … a Theta Body?

This page hosts information on Annie Raymond's talk "What is … a Theta Body?" at the "What is …?" seminar. The talk will take place on Friday, April 23, 12:30pm at the BMS Loft at Urania. This talk will help you better understand the BMS Friday talk by Lex Schrijver, which will start at 2pm.

Abstract

The cold war is raging outside and our young hero, László Lovász, stumbles upon a body that has been stabbed!

Or, in math terms: in 1979, Lovász found an upper bound for the Shannon capacity of a graph and introduced the theta body, a powerful relaxation of the stable set polytope STAB(G).
