This page hosts information on Wayne Lam's talk "What is … the
conformal geometry of surfaces?" at the
"What is …?" seminar. The talk will take place on Friday, November 15, 1:00pm at the BMS Loft at
Urania. This talk will help you better understand the talk by
Boris Springborn, which will start at 2pm.
Abstract
A brief introduction to conformal geometry and its relation to complex analysis is shown. Some basic results, like the Riemann mapping theorem, are emphasized for their relations to the discrete theory. The goal is to give the audience a taste of discrete differential geometry.
