What are … the Burger's and heat equations?

This page hosts information on Juan Camilo Orduz's talk "What are … the Burger's and heat equations?" at the "What is …?" seminar. The talk will take place on Friday, December 13, 1:00pm at the BMS Loft at Urania. This talk will help you better understand the talk by Felix Otto, which will start at 2pm.

*Please note that the BMS Friday talk this week will be followed by the BMS Holiday Party.*

Abstract

In this short talk we will describe two concrete examples of partial differential equations (PDEs): Burger's and the heat equation. We will mention some useful techniques to solve them: method of characteristics and Fourier theory.
