This page hosts information on Ulrich Reitebuch's talk "What is … a gyroid?" at the "What is …?" seminar. The talk will take place on Friday, July 18, 1:15pm at the BMS Loft at Urania. This talk will help you better understand the talk by Myfanwy Evans, which will start at 2pm.
The Gyroid is a minimal surface which belongs to the family of the Schwarz P and Schwarz D surfaces. We will first have a short introduction to minimal surfaces and their symmetries and then see some minimal surfaces in visualizations and 3D models.
