Abstract: In this talk we introduce Carleson's theorem on pointwise convergence of Fourier series. We give the fundamental proof steps due to Fefferman and outline its connections to Wiener-Wintner-type ergodic theorems.
Furthermore we discuss related open problems in harmonic analysis and ergodic theory.
