Research

The group's research activities focus on transport phenomena and complex dynamics in soft matter physics, motivated by biological processes and nanofluidic applications. Our work strongly builds on high-performance computer simulations, which explore novel simulation approaches and benefit from cutting-edge computing technology. The goal is to rationalise simulation results by a combination of first principles, scaling concepts, and phenomenological modelling, ideally supporting the analysis of experimental studies. We wish to contribute to interdisciplinary efforts with insight on fundamental questions that challenge our understanding of molecular processes and thereby stimulate the development of novel nano- and biotechnology applications.
