Thema der Disputation:
Scrum and Kanban approaches for process optimisation
Abstract: Since 2001 we have seen agile product development on the rise. Although it is often associated with the field of software development, it can be applied to many different scientific and non-scientific fields. This talk should give an overview of the key characteristics of an agile mindset and how it can benefit solving complex problems. Therefore we will introduce two of the most famous agile approaches, the Scrum framework and the Kanban method, and why their key features can benefit scientific research work. We will investigate the benefits based on a scientific Scrum/Kanban model for process optimisation and explain why doubling the people working on one problem does not mean half the time till it is done or twice the outcome and why there is a perfect group size.
