Context
Health data collected during medical procedures or routine checks can be a valuable resource for data-driven medicine. But for patients, who are asked to decide which data to share for which purpose, these data-sharing decisions can involve complex and competing considerations. Previous research has shown that supporting individuals in reflecting on their values can support their decision-making for data-sharing decisions(Leimstädtner et al., 2025). By making values explicit first, decision-makers can better assess existing alternatives and potentially identify choices that better correspond to what they consider important (Huldtgren, Wiggers & Jonkers, 2014).

Problem
Existing conversational approaches to value-centered decision support rely on predefined questions and interaction structures. LLMs could make such reflection more adaptive by responding to users' individual reasoning to support them in articulating and exploring relationships between their values and available choices.

Aim
The thesis aims to design and evaluate an LLM-based conversational system for supporting reflection on values for complex privacy decisions. Building on existing work on value-centered consent interfaces, the thesis will investigate how LLMs may be used to enhance conversational reflection through adaptive interaction.

Research Question
How can an LLM facilitate value-centered reflection on health data-sharing decisions while preserving user autonomy?
