We, the Human-Centered Computing Research Group (HCC) at Freie Universität Berlin, aim to contribute to society by addressing evolving technological challenges from a human-centered perspective and exploring meaningful interaction concepts, especially in the area of Human-AI Collaboration. In our interdisciplinary research, we apply empirical approaches from human-centered design to investigate the assumptions and effects of technologies on people. We strive to actively involve people and their perspectives in our research to promote participatory and value-based technology design. We strive for the reproducibility of our research results and make them openly accessible to enable all interested parties to (further) develop solutions for scientific, social, and individual challenges.

Would you like to work toward strengthening the field of Human-Computer Interaction in the study program of computer science at Freie Universität Berlin?

You can do that as a HCC research group research associate. In addition to research-oriented teaching, your responsibilities will include administrative tasks to realize the continuous development of our teaching offer towards responsible computer science. The position serves your own scientific qualification (doctorate).

Do you have a strong interest in the topics of this position as a research associate, and are you motivated to participate actively in current scientific discourses and translate them into sustainable study programs? Then we look forward to receiving your application.

Our values

  • We support you in realizing your dissertation project within the scope of the position.
  • We promote your further academic training (e.g., by participating in conferences, summer schools, and research seminars) and support you in strengthening your analytical skills and knowledge and expanding your network.
  • We support you in obtaining teaching qualifications (e.g., by participating in the courses offered by the Dahlem Center for Academic Teaching).
  • We are committed to open-source software, open science, and free access to knowledge.
  • We offer an open, interdisciplinary, and dynamic working environment in which all people with different backgrounds and experiences are welcome.
