The Long Night of the Sciences (Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften, LNDW) returns after a two-year break! The LNDW will take place on July 2nd, 2022 with three formats presented by the HCC Research Group.

The LNDW is a yearly event that has been taking place since 2001. This year, on July 2nd, from 5 pm to midnight, scientific and science-related institutions in Berlin and Potsdam will open their doors again. Through presentations, workshops, experiments, and other interactive formats, visitors will gain insights into current research in a broad range of fields .

The HCC Research Group's contribution to this year's LNDW focuses on communicating  privacy risks associated with digital services. Anyone who uses the Internet unknowingly pays with their data. In addition to private information that we actively enter, for example, when we shop online, personal data is also being recorded automatically without us noticing. A simple and unconscious click on "accept all cookies" or "agree to tracking" and a data collection machine is already running in the background. Deceptive design urges us not to think twice about it - and even if we did, what's so bad about someone knowing everything about me? I have nothing to hide!

At the LNDW, the Human-Centered Computing research group will convey the importance of privacy on the Internet from the perspective of human-computer interaction and how to better protect it - without having to lead a life offline.

Date: July 2, 2022, from 5 pm to 12 am
Location of the HCC Research Group's presentations: Takustraße 9, 14195 Berlin - Foyer
