News from Jan 02, 2019

*** Please feel free to forward this call to anyone you know who might be interested. ***

I would like to raise your attention to one specific position in the area of interactive information visualization with a focus on mixed-reality environments which is part of the Cluster of Excellence Matters of Activity. Image Space Material (MoA).

This position will be available as of May 2019. The duration of the contracts depends on the individual qualification of the applicants for one project phase (until 30.06.2021) or two consecutive project phases (until 31.12.2022).

The aim of the Cluster is to provide the foundations for a new culture of materiality in the sense of reinventing the analog in the digital age, thus, we as computer scientists bridge the physical and the digital worlds (https://www.matters-of-activity.hu-berlin.de/en). In our research, we follow an interdisciplinary approach, thus candidates will work with other researchers from the humanities, natural science and design disciplines.

The above mentioned position belongs to the collaborative project "Cutting" but the candidate will also contribute to the projects "Filtering" and "Object Space Agency". Further information to the "Cutting" project can be found on the cluster homepage: https://www.matters-of-activity.hu-berlin.de/en/projects/cutting_profiles (please also check out the two other descriptions).

Please send your application, including curriculum vitae in tabular form, letter of recommendation and letter of motivation (2 pages), until 15.01.2019, quoting the reference number DR/166/18, to: Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Exzellenzcluster Matters of Activity. Image Space Material, Prof. Schäffner, Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin or preferably in electronic form (one PDF file) to: MoA.application@hu-berlin.de. Please also fill the online application form under the following link to complete your application: https://webforms.bwg.hu-berlin.de/applications-scientific-staff-positions-cluster-of-excellence-matters-of-activity.

Please make sure that you gear the letter of motivation towards the research program of the MoA-Cluster in general and the collaborative project "filtering" specifically.

I do know that the deadline is very soon, because we already scheduled the interviews. Selected applicants will be invited to give a lecture with subsequent discussion which will take place in the period from 1th to 4th of March 2019. Unfortunately, the travel expenses to the symposium cannot be covered.

Please contact me via email, if you have any question and feel highly encouraged to apply.

HU seeks to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching, and specifically encourages qualified female researchers to apply. Applications of researchers from abroad are welcome. Preference will be given to disabled persons with equal qualifications. Applicants with migration background are highly welcome. Since application materials will not be returned, we ask you to send only copies of all documents.

Please visit our website www.hu-berlin.de/stellenangebote, which gives you access to the legally binding German version.
