Climate Modeling

Today's Earth System Analysis and Climate Research depend on computer simulation as one of their main research tools.
The computer codes employed to realize such simulations are in various ways not designed in agreement with established stan­dards of applied mathe­matical modelling and numerical ana­lysis, because there simply are no such standards at this time that would properly account for the multi­scale nature and tremen­dous complexity of the systems considered.

Our research group aims to contri­bute to bridging this gap by developing advanced abstract mathe­matical models as well as related compu­tational techniques.
