Over the recent years patient numbers, especially in emergency rooms, increased significantly, while the personnel resources remained too low. Automation of processes and the use of more modern technologies could improve the situation and support hospital personnel. There are many problem areas which need to be inspected separately. This thesis will focus on taking the first steps to improve the emergency departments waiting room situation. For this, a qualitative analysis will be conducted with already existing interviews on the emergency room technologies and articles that cover the use of technological devices, such as robots or terminals, and artificial intelligence in hospitals. With the discoveries of the qualitative analysis, possible features for a device with the focus on self-reflection and preparation of the patient will be categorized and designed. In the end, the designed and visualized features should be evaluated by former or current emergency room patients to review which features would be accepted by patients.
