This page collects links to good starting points for web searches
on various topics of interest for our research and teaching.
Add good links as you find them, but keep in mind that this list aims
at being high-quality rather than comprehensive. In particular, only
very few entries should be listed as 'best'.
http://www.m-w.com : English (dictionary and thesaurus), Merriam-Webster. Includes phonetic transcription and audio(!) for pronounciation. See also Wiktionary and WordNet.
http://www.wikipedia.org. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Volunteer-based and of varying quality, but often quite good. Entries available in multiple languages.
http://www.software-kompetenz.de. An SE knowledge base (in German). Not deep, but quite broad. Well-suited for obtaining a quick overview of an area one does know hardly anything about.
