Heisenberg Communications and Information Theory Group on Security and Machine Learning
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
The Heisenberg Communications and Information Theory Group at FU Berlin, just established in September 2015, is supported by the German Science Foundation (DFG). The Heisenberg group combines research in the areas of “5G Communication technologies”, “Physical Layer Security”, Digital and Statistical Signal Processing in particular “Compressed Sensing”. The Heisenberg fellowship is very prestigious and Priv. Doz. Dr.-Ing. habil. Gerhard Wunder is the first ever communication engineer to receive this award.
The Heisenberg group follows up on the research of Priv. Doz. Dr.-Ing. habil. Gerhard Wunder conducted at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute within the EU project “5GNOW” (www.5gnow.eu) as well as the BMBF project PROPHYLAXE (www.ict-prophylaxe.de), the biggest German project on security in the Internet of Things. Both projects were initiated and coordinated by Priv. Doz. Dr.-Ing. habil. Gerhard Wunder. The projects 5GNOW and PROPHYLAXE have influenced the European and international research agenda significantly.
