Compulsory internship
Four steps to an internship:
If there are still questions: FAQ on internships
1. Registration
In order for the internship to be recorded in Campus Management (CM), a course must be assigned to the internship. That's why a "Career Internship in Mathematics" course is offered every semester. This course has purely technical reasons and does not include any in-person dates. Long-term, registration for the internship in the CM should be done by registering for this course. Currently, however, the short registration deadline at the beginning of the semester is very problematic. To avoid any problems, the Examination Office will handle the registration for you. To do this, please inform the examination office, Dmitrij.Heinz@fu-berlin.de, of the start time of the internship (including your matriculation number) and the number of hours of the internship or the CP you are aiming for via email.
2. Requiremets for an internship position
a) Content: According to study regulations Bachelor Mathematics §9(4), the internship should provide students with an insight into possible career and activity fields and confront them with the requirements of practice. This is very broad. If you are still unsure about the internship place you have in mind, please contact the internship officer.
b) Scope: According to study regulations Bachelor Mathematics §9(4), the internship has a scope of 5, 10, or 15 CP. According to the study regulations, 120, 240, or 360 hours must be worked in operation. For a 40-hour week, a 10 CP case would be a six-week internship.
It is the students' responsibility to find suitable internship positions. So, initiative is required. The following websites could serve as a starting point for internship positions. The CareerService also has a job and internship exchange for you:
