  • Time and place:   Tuesdays, 10-12h, SR 031, Arnimallee 6,
                                  Thursdays, 10-12, SR 007/008, Arnimallee 6,
             during the first half of the semester.

  • Exercise Session: Wednesday, 14-16h, SR 119, Arnimallee 3.

There will be 4 hours of lecture during the first half of the semester. During the second half of the semester this lecture will be naturally continued by the course Homotopy Theory, which also will be taught with 4 weekly hours.

Course Overview

This lecture will continue the introduction to algebraic topology. The emphasis will be on homotopy theory: homotopy sets and groups, Puppe sequences, cofibrations and fibrations, the theorem of Blakers-Massey, colimits and limits, the theorem of Hurewicz, introduction to spectral sequences, ...

Assessment

To receive credits for the course you need to

  • actively participate in the exercise session 
  • work on and successfully solve the weekly exercises 
  • pass the final exam

Exercises      

Problem sets will be put online every Thursday and can be found under Assignements in the MyCampus/Whiteboard portal. Solutions are due by 5 pm on Friday of the following week  –  solutions must be written in LaTeX and uploaded as pdf through the MyCampus/Whiteboard portal.
