Who we are

Students advising students

We are a team of students from the department for Mathematics and Computer Science at Freie Universität Berlin. We advise and support students on a variety of issue topics regarding the study programme. For us it is most important to meet you where you are and offer you advise on equal terms where all questions are allowed - really all of them!

In addition, the Mentoring organises various Events for you: Workshops, Fun Events, Information events to various topics, ... 

Our service is for all students at this department, both Bachelor- and Master Students and also for those who want to become one including the international students! It includes includes weekly consultation hours (see opening hours on the right) and consists of the Student Advisory Service and the International Counseling.

Head of the Student Advisory Center is Ulrike Seyferth. 

Our Student Advisory Center includes these four parts: 

Introductory Tutoring

We offer Crash courses, Workshops and information events, mainly aimed at those who start their studies. We are here to make this start easier with less barriers and to answer all important upcoming questions to that.

Student Counselling

We help you organising and planning your studies and answer all questions related to your study and exam regulation, to your supplemental area and minor, when you want to get courses recognised, where you have to hand in which form, how to transition from Bachelor to Master and so much more. Additionally, we tell you who else would be a better fit with your issue if we are not the right place.

International Counselling

Want to study aborad? We offer you advice for planning a semester or practicum abroad and also offer you helpful hints for an application and the finances.
Incoming Students can also get advice regarding studying in Germany.

Mentoring

The Mentoring programme from the department of Mathematics and Computer Science is mainly aimed for students starting their undergrad studies during the time everything changes from the way they've experienced from their time at school so far. Because there are many difficulties during transitioning into the new stage of education experienced mentors who are students themselves from the study areas support this process so a successful start is easier to achieve and oftentimes unnecessary failure and detours can be prevented!
