Stefan Klus has been Young Investigator in phase 1 and PI in the completed project B06 in phase 2 and is now Associate Professor at Heriot Watt University. Dr. Klus has achieved important results on Koopman theory, dynamical systems analysis and kernel methods. He has published very actively in collaboration with various other projects, including A01, A04, A08 and B03. In his new role as Mercator Fellow for the third funding period he will remain closely connected to the CRC and these projects. Specifically, cooperation is planned with A04 on Koopman operator methods and other aspects of method development and machine learning, with A05 on Kernel-based solutions of optimal control problems on transition manifolds, with A08 on Kernel methods for the Koopman operator to learn nonstationary processes, and with B03 on methods to solve the variational problem for optimal reaction coordinates in Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Spaces.
