Antonia Marzena Beyer:
Implementation and evaluation of a three-dimensional human model for the documentation and estimation of burn injuries in prehospital emergency care
Contents
In cases of burn injuries, an accurate assessment of the severity of the injury is crucial for providing appropriate treatment. This assessment is based not only on the patient’s age and the degree of the burn, but also on the percentage of the total body surface area burned. However, current methods are generally highly inaccurate, which usually leads to an overestimation of the burn. In the context of emergency medical services, this may be the result of high time pressure and the rare treatment of burn injuries. The objective of this work is to develop a support tool for emergency medical services to enable precise documentation during initial care and to optimize the assessment of burn injuries. To this end, a study using quantitative and qualitative methods will be conducted. Participants will be asked to document and assess different burn patterns using various documentation methods and will subsequently be interviewed.
