The HCC.lab stands for an interdisciplinary team in the field of collaborative computing and human-computer interaction. The focus is on Interactive Intelligent Systems: we see ourselves as designers of participative and sustainable technologies that promote human-machine cooperation. Our current research focuses on ideation, data visualization, and human-centered machine learning. Our theory-driven research includes both an empirical and an engineering dimension.

The position is part of a BMBF-funded interdisciplinary project in the context of continuing medical education (Computer-Supported Cooperative Learning). We are investigating to what extent we can support medical assistants in informal learning processes using chatbots.
This position includes the possibility of pursuing a Ph.D.
Field of Activity
We are looking to bolster our new research area Conversational Interfaces, which will combine the fields of data visualization and human-centered machine learning. The following tasks are associated with this position:
- Design of novel interaction concepts for conversational interfaces with a focus on transparency and their implementation in the form of interactive prototypes
- Execution of empirical (online) studies to evaluate the approaches
- Preparation of scientific publications for the dissemination of research results
- Degree (Diploma or Master's degree) in Computer Science or related fields.
Above-average willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation
Very good written and spoken language skills in German and English
Knowledge in at least one of the areas: Human-Computer Interaction, Data Visualization or Human-Centered Machine Learning
Knowledge in Rasa and Mattermost
Experience in the design, implementation, evaluation, and supervision of online studies
High willingness to work independently
Ability and willingness to actively participate within the team
Interest in scientific work and existing experience in writing scientific texts
Creativity, analytical skills, problem-solving competence, and results-oriented work
