We are looking for a new team member for the Cluster of Excellence "Matters of Activity". The full-time position is limited until December 31st, 2022.
Remuneration group: 13 TV-L FU
Application deadline: October 14th, 2019
The aim of the Matters of Activity cluster is to lay the foundations for a new culture of material by giving analogues a new meaning in the age of the digital. The focus is on the interdisciplinary development of sustainable, energy-efficient artefacts and technologies through the inseparable linking of active images, spaces and materials. Therefore, the humanities, natural sciences and design disciplines cooperate within the cluster as equal partners. Experimental and creative approaches are combined with historical analysis to draw practical and theoretical consequences.
This position is part of the projects "Digital Filtering" and "Adaptive Digital Twin" of the Cluster of Excellence "Matters of Activity". The research work focuses on Interactive Intelligent Data Visualization with a focus on Uncertainty Visualization. The challenge is to make the uncertainty that exists in the visualization of data and its algorithmic processing visible and questionable for humans. Therefore, topics of analysis, evaluation and decision making under uncertainty, the question of the representations of uncertainty, the interaction with corresponding visualizations as well as the generation of trust in the "active image" are of central importance.
Research in the field of Interactive Intelligent Data Visualization with the following areas:
The exposé should present a research project oriented towards the cluster's research program and the "Filtering" and "Cutting" projects. It should become plausible which other disciplines should be involved in working on the project. The research program of the Cluster of Excellence can be found here.
The Applications (letter of motivation, CV, exposé, recommendations) should be adressed to Prof. Dr. Claudia Müller-Birn and sent in PDF format (preferably as one document) stating the identifier (MoA-FU-WM-PostDoc) electronically by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to the following address:
