The Human-Centered Computing Research Group (HCC) represents an interdisciplinary team in the field of collaborative computing and human-machine interaction. The focus is to advance research and design of socially responsible technologies to enable sustainable human-machine collaboration. The current focus is on machine learning technologies related to issues of privacy, reflection and interpretability through interactive and conversational user interfaces.

Field of Activity

Are you a student in computer science or a related field and want to implement novel interaction mechanisms and concepts, e.g. in the field of conversational user interfaces? As a student member of the research group, you have the opportunity to do just that by supporting us in working on challenging and relevant tasks in the medical context. With us, you will proactively contribute your knowledge, skills, and creativity in the field of human-computer interaction.

Are you characterized by a self-reliant way of working and a high willingness to learn? Then science is the right place for you.

Your Tasks:

  • Assistance with research tasks (literature research, research of state-of-the-art approaches)
  • Support the design, development and evaluation of context-specific datasets and ML systems
  • Support the design and implementation of novel approaches for conversational user interfaces
  • Assistance in creating and training a machine learning system for chatbots with the help of an appropriate framework (e.g. Rasa)

Your Skills:

  • Master's or Bachelor's student in the field of computer science or a related field (business informatics, media informatics, data science, ergonomics, psychology).
  • Knowledge of software development (such as Python) and web development (such as HTML, CSS, Javascript).
  • Experience and knowledge in Machine Learning (like Natural Language Processing using TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) and/or chatbot development (e.g., using Rasa, Dialogflow) is desirable
  • Basic experiences in collaborative software development (e.g., through term papers, software projects) are a plus
  • Good language skills in German and English, both written and spoken (language level: B1).
