Student Assistant (f/m/d) 40h/month - Design and Visualization

We are looking for a student assistant (40h/month) with focus on design and visualization for our interdisciplinary project WerteRadar. The position is limited until June 30th, 2023.

The Human-Centered Computing Research Group (HCC) represents an interdisciplinary team in the field of collaborative computing and human-machine interaction. The focus is to advance research and design of socially responsible technologies by analyzing the intertwining of data, algorithms and social context to enable sustainable human-machine collaboration. The current focus is on machine learning technologies related to issues of privacy, reflection and explanation through interactive and conversational user interfaces. We understand these technologies as socio-technical systems that are situated in specific contexts of use. This is also the basis for our methodological approach to system design, which is based on critical practice.1

Field of Activity

You are a student the field of design and want to co-create novel interaction concepts? As a member of our HCC research group, you will have the opportunity to do just that and much more. As part of our research team, you will utilize and contribute your knowledge, skills, and creativity in the area of human-machine interaction.

As a student assistant, you will help to develop real-world design tasks in the context of privacy-oriented health data donation. You will work closely with our research staff and excel in your self-responsible and dynamic way of working and willingness to learn.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support in the design of visual design approaches through user stories and user journeys
  • Support the design of visual concepts (such as wireframes and low-fi prototypes) and design assets for user interfaces

Your Skills:

  • At least two completed semesters in interaction design, interface design, communication design, visual communication, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Affinity, Sketch, InVision or comparable programs

  • Good language skills in German and English, both written and spoken (language level: B1)
