News from Mar 09, 2026

We are delighted to share that our paper “With, not For: Co-Designing a Patient-Facing AI Companion Concept for the Emergency Department Waiting Area” by Klein, Jacobe; Sörries, Peter; Multugil, Yasemin; George, Ceenu; Altendorf, Maria; Möckel, Martin; and Müller-Birn, Claudia has received an Honorable Mention Award at CHI 2026.

The Honorable Mention distinction is awarded to the top 5% of submissions and recognizes particularly outstanding contributions to the field. We are proud that our work on the co-design of Lumee, a patient-facing AI companion concept for emergency department waiting areas, has been recognized in this way.

The paper will be presented by Jacobe Klein at the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2026) in April in Barcelona, and we look forward to discussing our work with the international HCI community.
