The article “Values of Distributed Communities: An Approach to Remote Value Elicitation to Inform the Future Design of AI-supported Rare-Disease Diagnostic Tools” has been accepted for the NordiCHI Conference 2026 and is a collaboration of the HCC research group, the University Hospital Bonn, and the Allianz Chronischer Seltener Erkrankungen (ACHSE) e.V.

The contribution discusses the participatory research approach of the project ETHIC-AI.D. It focuses on how the concerns and needs of people living with rare diseases, as well as those of their relatives and professionals, such as physicians, can be elicited and made usable for research. The aim is to incorporate these perspectives early in the development of future AI-supported diagnostic tools, thereby designing technologies that are better aligned with the real experiences, priorities, and needs of the affected groups.
