In the winter semester 2021/22, the interdisciplinary project "Coding IxD" took place for the sixth time - this year on the topic of "Digital Sovereignty". Coding IxD is a cooperation of the Human-Centered Computing Research Group (Freie Universität Berlin) led by Prof. Dr. Claudia Müller-Birn and the Embodied Interaction Group (Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee) led by Prof. Carola Zwick, Prof. Judith Glaser and Prof. Thomas Ness.
In interdisciplinary teams, students from the disciplines of computer science and design explored the possibilities of self-determination and individual decision-making for a sovereign handling of sensitive data, which were realized in the form of neo-analog artifacts. Neo-analog artifacts refer to functional prototypes that materialize novel interaction concepts to enable sovereign action and informed decision-making.
The studio projects of Digital:Sovereignty were showcased in an interactive exhibition from February 17 – 23, 2022. The exhibition was supported by the Digital Autonomy Hub and kindly hosted by the Weizenbaum Institute.
You can read more about a selection of the exhibited projects in our Schaufenster as well as on the Coding IxD Website.
