Mobile (Web-) Services

As mobile devices become more and more popular, new application fields and, along with those, new challenges arise. The mobility of users and wireless connectivity between mobile devices are responsible for more unstable and therefore unreliable communication that users are accustomed to from the fixed-wired setting. Within this project, we adapt the concept of loosely coupled software components as they gained popularity with service oriented architecture (SOA) within distributed environments to mobile settings. By, among others, exploring the context of mobile users, we try to alleviate the disadvantages of mobile networks opposed distributed setting in order to encourage the use of mobile connectivity.

>The focus of this project mainly lies on context-aware mobile service discovery and transactional processing of distributed applications. We try to adapt existing approaches, for example the transaction processing for web-services as specified within the ws-coordination framework, to suit the unreliable communication environment.
