In this project we will develop a novel and optimized version of our model cars for education. We propose to distribute programmable model cars to universities in order to foster research in the field of autonomous vehicles, sensor processing, computer vision, and control. At FU Berlin we have developed several model cars that have been used successfully as part of the robotics program at our university. The students who program the cars have been taking part in yearly autonomous cars competitions. We propose to develop a complete robotics course based on the model cars. This is a research project about building the right control architecture and hardware, with an important educational outcome.
