The XXII^nd Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (Sibgrapi 2009) will be held at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil between October 11^th and 14^th, 2009. The Sibgrapi is promoted by SBC through the cegrapi committee, and in cooperation with the Eurographics Association.

Sibgrapi is the most important Brazilian meeting in Computer Graphics, Image Processing, and Computer Vision. Started in 1988, this will be its 22^nd edition. The Sibgrapi 2009 is being organized jointly by the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio / Mathematics) and Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF / Computation). Attesting the quality of the Sibgrapi, the proceedings of the previous editions are available on-line at IEEE Xplore, and have been published by the IEEE Computer Society Press from 1997 to 2008. Moreover, special effort has been made to publish extended versions of the best papers in special issues of well qualified journals of the related areas. In particular, extended versions of the best papers of  previous Sibgrapi have been published in special issues of:

• Image and Vision Computing (in 2003),
• Pattern Analysis and Applications (in 2004),
• Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics (in 2004),
• Journal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision (in 2006),
• Pattern Recognition Letters (in 2007, 2008).

• Computers & Graphics.
